The program was based on lean manufacturing principles and focused on the culture change in waste management.

On the webpage of the Learning Legacy, the Olympic Delivery Authority is sharing the knowledge and the lessons learned from the construction of the Olympic Park. One of them is the „NoWaste Lean Construction training programme” on the Athletes’ Village. The programme was based on lean manufacturing principles and best practices from the automotive sector, applied to the Athletes’ Village construction site. The results are impressive: 13 per cent decrease in waste production over a six-month period and an estimated £94,000 saving in waste disposal costs.
