• 2013-06-14 | ISO 9001:2015 - Commitee draft is available!

First published in 1987, ISO 9000 has consistently been ISO’s most popular series of standards. Now, after 25 years of success, ISO technical committee ISO/TC 176, is busy laying the groundwork for the next generation of quality management standards.

Following the adoption by ISO of ‘Annex SL’ in 2012, all technical committees developing management system standards have to use the same structure, terms and definitions.  ISO 9001 will follow this new format during its revision process and will have 10 sections:

    1. Scope
    2. Normative reference
    3. Terms and definitions
    4. Context of the organization (Organization, Interested parties, Scope, Quality management system)
    5. Leadership (Leadership and commitment, Quality policy, Organizational roles, responsibilities and authorities)
    6. Planning (Risk and opportunities, Objectives, Changes)
    7. Support (Resources, Competence , Awareness Communication, Documented information)
    8. Operation (Operational planning and control; Interactions with customers; External provision; Development and control of goods and services; Nonconforming goods and services)
    9. Performance evaluation (Monitoring, measurement, analysis and evaluation; Internal audit, Management review)
    10. Improvement (nonconformity and corrective actions, improvement)

The new ISO 9001 document will includes seven quality management principles (Process Approach and Systems Approach will be integrated) and a few minor adjustments are needed to update them for the next generation of quality management standards. The draft of principles is the following:

    1. Customer Focus
    2. Leadership
    3. Engagement of People
    4. Process Approach
    5. Improvement
    6. Evidence-based Decision Making
    7. Relationship Management
